Supernova 2012 is an American science fiction film directed by Anthony Fankhauser in 2009. The film was produced by The Asylum . The film was released in Germany on April 29, 2010.

action

200 years ago a star exploded in the constellation Lyra and became a supernova . The radiation released in the process now reaches the earth in a few days and threatens to destroy it.

The globe is already being hit by small meteorites when NASA physicist Kelvin is ordered to the base. On the way there, he, his wife Laura and his daughter Tina are attacked by Syrians because the US has transported nuclear missiles into the space station. The top secret operation, however, serves to ward off the as yet not publicly known supernova radiation and not, as other governments suspect, the threat to other countries on earth. The aim is to ignite the nuclear missiles outside the earth's atmosphere and thus create a nuclear protective shield. Kelvin is taken to the base and his family is escorted by security guards.

In the base, Kelvin is led by the Chinese Dr. Kwang Ye and the Russian Dzerzhinsky supported. The earth is now being shaken by ever stronger earthquakes. The security escort of Kelvin's family is killed. It is getting warmer, the number of lightning strikes and tornadoes is increasing. Laura and Tina have to get through to Kelvin alone.

When Kelvin checked the systems, he was attacked by a person dressed in black. He suspects the Chinese scientist, but has no evidence. Kelvin calls his wife and informs her that he will fly to the space station to detonate the rockets.

In the space station, the Russian Dzerzhinsky is led by Dr. Kwang Ye murdered. Shortly before Kelvin wants to launch the rockets, she attacks him too, but he can kill her. He ignites the missiles and the protective shield saves the earth.

criticism

“The closer we get to the end of the world advertised by Roland Emmerich and allegedly the Mayan calendar in 2012, the more the filmmakers in Category B and C outdo each other with their contributions on the subject. In this daringly constructed, low-budget SF ripper from the notorious Asylum house, Iranian car bombers, bald horror rednecks and even a female space ninja join the death rays from space, which is why it is crazy, but never boring, in the desperate fight for the salvation of humanity. For those who watch a lot of disaster films. "

"" More and more impacts from nowhere! An exploding star threatens to turn the earth into a "radioactive desert". US astrophysicist Kelvin (Brian Krause) somehow wants to prevent this with nuclear missiles. Even more than the age-old clichés (boozing Russians, shooting Arabs) and the clumsy tricks annoy the endlessly dreary scheme F dialogues ("Come on!" "Oh, my God!"). "
