Ban Nakasong (also Nakasang ) is a village in the south of Laos , Champasak province , Khong district , on the eastern bank of the Mekong . The place is located in the central or southern section of the Si Phan Don area ( four thousand islands ), has a market and is primarily important as a ferry port for the islands of Don Det and Don Khon to the south . A spur road connects Ban Nakasong with National Road 13 , which runs further northeast . The place is halfway between Khong and the Cambodian border, both of which are about 15 km away. The nearest places are Khinak in the north , Set Tai and Thakho in the southeast .
