The Nam-joseon-rodong party ( Korean : 남조선 로동당 , transliteration : Nam-joseon-rodong-dang , in German : South Joseon Workers Party or South Joseons Workers Party ) was a communist party in South Korea between 1946 and 1949 , the until it was founded on August 15, 1948, it was still called South Joseon .

history

The Nam-joseon-Rodong-dang walked out of the Joseon Gongsan-dang ( 조선 공산당 , in German: Joseon Communist Party or Communist Party Joseon ) and some factions of other parties produced and was designed by Pak Hon-yong ( 박헌영 out) as Chairman .

At the time of its founding, on November 23, 1946, the southern part of Joseon was occupied by American troops , the northern part by Soviet troops. In 1947, the United Nations General Assembly decided to hold elections across the entire Korean Peninsula . The Soviet government, however, rejected elections in their sector. Therefore, the elections in May 1948 could only be held in the southern part of Joseon.

The Nam-joseon-rodong-dang was based on the policies of the Soviet Union and the North Korean sister party Joseon-rodong-dang 조선 로동당 , (German: Joseon Workers' Party) and also rejected the elections. From 1947 the party fought underground with guerrilla tactics against the newly emerging South Korean state. In 1948 she called a general strike , but could not prevent the elections in May 1948. In the period that followed, the American occupation forces increased their pressure on the communist underground movement. Leading party members were arrested, the rest fled to the north, from where underground work continued in the south. In June 1949, both parties united to form the Joseon-rodong-dang (Joseon Workers' Party), of which Kim Il-sung ( 김일성 ) became chairman .
