Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyel
Ngawang Namgyal ( Tib. Zhabs drung ngag dbang rnam rgyal ; * 1594 , † 1651 ) was the founder of Bhutan . He established the Drugpa Kagyu School as one of the most important schools of Tibetan Buddhism . In 1620 he founded the Cheri Monastery in the Thimphu Valley . He is considered a reincarnation of Pema Karpos.
