Künkhyen Pema Karpo ( Tib .: kun mkhyen padma dkar po ; * 1527 ; † 1592 ) was the 4th Gyelwang Drugpa , the head of the Drugpa tradition, one of the so-called "eight smaller schools" of the Kagyü school of Tibetan Buddhism ( Vajrayana ) and an eminent scholar. He wrote writings on philosophy, logic, literature, history and astrology and also wrote on mahamudra .

He set up the new headquarters of the Drugpa Kagyu tradition in the monastery Sangngag Chöling ( gsang sngags chos gling ) in southern Tibet .

His reincarnations include the 5th Gyelwang Drugpa Pagsam Wangpo ( dpag bsam dbang po ; 1593–1641), who stayed in Tibet and Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyel ( zhabs drung ngag dbang rnam rgyal ; 1594–1651), who went to Bhutan .
