Namtumbo district is one of five districts of the region Ruvuma in Tanzania . In the north it is bounded by the Morogoro region , in the east by the Tunduru district , in the south by Mozambique and finally in the west both by the Songea district .

The district had 185,131 inhabitants in 2002.
