Tunduru is one of five districts of the region Ruvuma in Tanzania . In the north it is bounded by the Lindi region , in the east by the Mtwara region , in the south by Mozambique and finally in the west by the Namtumbo district.

The district had 247,976 inhabitants in 2002 .
