Nana Lorca

Nana Lorca (real name Modrego Djenane Vigaray ; born August 20, 1937 in Murcia ) is a Spanish dancer and prima ballerina .

Life

She studied music and dance at the Madrid Conservatory. Later she danced and worked with Alberto Lorca, Pedro Azorín, Mariemma and Enrique el Cojo. From 1956 to 1960 she was the solo dancer of the Ballet Español by Pilar López . In 1960 she performed as a dancer for the Compañía Folias de España in the USA under the direction of Roberto Carpio . In 1962 she joined the Ballet Español José Grecos as a prima ballerina . She later worked there as a choreographer and became the most important artist in the ensemble. After touring America for several years, she joined the Ballet Lorquiana in 1964 . In 1972 she had a dance role inThe Proud and Damned by the director Ferde Grofé jr. and thus played alongside Chuck Connors and Cesar Romero . She also appeared on television both nationally and internationally. While the Mike Douglas Show , The Boston Pops New Year's Eve Gala or the Tonight Show Lorca were on the guest list in the USA in the 1970s , she was also a guest on the ARD Saturday evening show One Will Win on October 12, 1968 . From 1993 to 1997 Nana Lorca was co-director of the Ballet Nacional de España .
