Nancy Evans (table tennis player)

Nancy Evans (* 1903 , † 28. July 1998 in Cardiff ) was one of the leading table tennis players from Wales as well as a functionary .

Player

Before and after World War II , Nancy Evans was the strongest table tennis player in Wales. She won all of Wales' individual championships from 1935 to 1946, a total of six times. No championships were held in Wales from 1940 to 1945. From 1935 to 1950 she took part in five world championships for Wales .

Functionary

In 1944 she took over the office of general secretary of the Table Tennis Association of Wales Ltd. She held this office until 1989. When the European Table Tennis Association ETTU was founded , she was a member of the first presidium. From 1960 to 1984 she was Secretary General of the ETTU.

In her honor, the European Exhibition Cities Cup was renamed the ETTU Nancy Evans Cup in 1984 .

Private

In 1933 she married Roy Evans , who later became president of the world table tennis association ITTF .
