Nanjing South Railway Station ( Chinese 南京 南 , Pinyin Nánjīng Nán - "Nanjing South"), also known as Nanjing Nan Railway Station , is a train station in the city of Nanjing in the Chinese province of Jiangsu . It was opened in 2011 and is primarily used for high-speed traffic .

Nanjing South Railway Station has five levels, two of which are underground: The lowest level is used by the Nanjing subway , while the level above houses a shopping mall. There are ticket offices on the ground floor and the platform level above. On the top level there is a waiting room that extends over the tracks and is connected to the platforms via escalators .
The station extends over an area of 458,000 m², 282,000 m² of which is accounted for by the station building. Passenger traffic is handled via 28 tracks that can be reached via 15 platforms. Nanjing South Station is designed for a capacity of 44.1 million travelers per year. With construction costs of 14 billion yuan , the station is one of the most expensive station projects on the Chinese high-speed program .

The high-speed trains departing from Nanjing South provide direct connections to Beijing South Railway Station , Shanghai-Hongqiao , Tianjin , Jinan and Zhengzhou , among others . The Nanjing Lukou International Airport is located around 40 kilometers from the South Railway Station. A bus shuttle runs between the train station and the airport according to a regular schedule .
