Nanny from Escher

Nanny von Escher actually Anna Elisabeth von Escher (born May 4, 1855 in Zurich , † July 22, 1932 in Langnau am Albis ) was a Swiss writer and speaker. She was the daughter of Colonel Hans Conrad Escher vom Luchs and Bertha, geb. by Meiss from Teufen . She was the third of three sisters and the only one who remained unmarried.

In 1895 she published her first volume of poetry. Her works mostly deal with old Zurich themes.

Her friends included the lawyer Max Huber and the Zurich art historian Paul Ganz .

She found her final resting place in the Sihlfeld cemetery in Zurich .

The highest point on the Zürichberg , the Escherhöhe ( 675  m above sea level ), was named after Nanny von Escher.
