Naro ( Dzongkha : ན་ རོ་ ) is one of eight Gewogs (blocks) of the Dzongkhag Thimphu in Western Bhutan . Together with the Lingzhi Gewog and the Soe Gewog , it forms the sub-district (Drungkhag) Lingzhi. Naro Gewog is in turn divided into five Chiwogs (constituencies). According to the 2005 census, 189 people live in this weight in an area of 277 km² in around 35 households.
The Gewog is located in the north of the Thimphu District, extends over altitudes between 3800 and 5489 m and is one of the most inaccessible Gewogs. It can only be reached via mule tracks . The population makes their living as nomadic yak herders . Although this generates relatively high incomes, the standard of living is low. There is no medical infrastructure or educational facilities. The Gewogs children attend schools in the neighboring Gewogs.
