Lingzhi ( Dzongkha : གླིང་ གཞི་ ) is one of eight Gewogs (blocks) of the Dzongkhag Thimphu in western Bhutan . Together with the Soe Gewog and Naro Gewog , the Lingzhi Gewog forms the sub-district ( Drungkhag ) Lingzhi. Lingzhi Gewog is in turn divided into five Chiwogs (constituencies). According to the census of 2005, 495 people live in this weight in an area of 485 km² in 120 households.

The Gewog is located in the north of the Thimphu district and extends over altitudes between 3445 and 6782  m . The entire area of Gewog lies in the Jigme-Dorji National Park . Because of the high altitude of the Alps, there is hardly any arable farming, the main source of income for the population is the nomadic rearing of yaks . Due to the seasonal migrations with the yak herds and the remote location of the Gewog - it can only be reached via mule tracks from Paro and from Dodena in the north of the Thimphu Valley - it is difficult and expensive to provide government services to the population. There is a primary school and a basic health unit ( BHU ).
