Life and work

Amirsedghi fled Iran for political reasons. After studying Romance studies, literature and philosophy and film in Iran and Italy, she studied Islamic studies and education in Mainz. In 1996 she founded the Association for Culture and Migration eV "Germany from Inside and Outside" (DIA). As part of the Rhineland-Palatinate Cultural Summer 2003, she designed the art project “Babylon Towers” at the Mainz State Museum.

Amirsedghi deals with the topic of intercultural exchange, but this should " not be exhausted in [...] folkloric activities " or in " well-intentioned [...] solidarity actions ". She sees this exchange as an opportunity for mutual understanding and respect. But that also means " having the courage to criticize constructively ", for example the misguided European cultural policy, which does not defend " unrestricted personal freedom, freedom of expression, freedom of the press and the arts " to the necessary extent.

In December 2006 she received the Order of Merit of the State of Rhineland-Palatinate for her voluntary work with migrants. In the same year she founded the DIA publishing house in Mainz .
