Simon Jones (bassist)

Simon Jones (born May 29, 1972 in Wigan ) is a British musician. He is a founding member and bassist of the English band The Verve , which became famous with the hit single " Bitter Sweet Symphony ".

Musical career

With The Verve , Simon Jones recorded a total of three albums , three special compilations and twelve singles from 1990 to 1999 , until they finally broke up with their second separation in 1999. At first the band came together without Richard Ashcroft and Pete Salisbury , until finally each one followed its own path. In 2000 Jones started a new project with John Squire (ex- Stone Roses ), from which the band The Shining emerged . This dissolved again three years later.

Simon Jones has been a bassist for Cathy Davey since 2004 . At the end of 2006 he temporarily founded a new band with Mark Heaney (ex-The Shining) and Jeff Wootton. In 2007, The Verve reunited with whom he released another album and two singles. Since 2009 he has been running his new band project The Black Ships , which has been called Black Submarine since 2012, with guitarist Nick McCabe ( The Verve ), e-violinist Davide Rossi ( Goldfrapp ) and drummer Mig Schillace .
