John Squire

John Squire (born November 24, 1962 in Broadheath, Lancashire ) is a British rock musician and painter.

From 1984-1996 Squire was guitarist of the band The Stone Roses , one of the most important bands of the Madchester movement.

Career

John Squire was born on November 24, 1962 in Broadheath, Lancashire. At the age of 13 he became friends with Ian Brown , with whom he founded the punk band The Patrol some time later .

In 1984, Squire and Brown co-founded Stone Roses with Andy Couzens, Pete Garner and Simon Wolenscroft.

Squire got out of the Stone Roses in 1996 and founded the band Seahorses , with whom he only recorded one album. After the Seahorses dissolved in 1999, Squire founded a new band with Simon Jones (ex- The Verve ), Duncan Baxter (vocals) and the last Seahorses drummer Mark Heaney , which eventually became The Shining . However, Squire got out a year later.

Since then, Squire has been working as a solo artist until today. In addition to music, Squire is also artistically active in other ways. Among other things, he designs the covers of the albums and singles of his bands himself.
