Nasrollah Kasraian tries to capture all facets of the multi-ethnic state of Iran in his photo books . Many of his volumes are devoted to a separate ethnic group or area of Iran. He usually travels to these areas with considerable effort, lives with the people concerned and tries to present them unadulterated through his photos.

He also explicitly refuses to photograph rich areas of Iran because he does not see his goal in presenting Iran, but rather to portray people in their self-image.

Nasrollah Kasraian has already published more than 30 illustrated books, many of which have won awards. The special thing about his works is that they go beyond ordinary picture books - they usually also contain longer texts about the creation of the photographs, the people who were photographed, the respective region and its history and other backgrounds. The texts are often written by his wife Ziba Arshi, an ethnologist.

In addition to the regular illustrated books, Nasrollah Kasraian has also published so-called "Postscripts" and calendars and published works in some issues of international photo magazines, such as the Franco-German GEO .

The world wrote about him:

“He became famous as an ethno-photographer, as a documenter of the ethnic minorities of Iran, their customs and traditions. His work goes far beyond photography, it is also textually demanding anthropological studies. The Kurds of Iran only became a topic for religious researchers through his work, because in the mountains of the northwest he documented customs that go back to the ancient Mithra cult and Zoroastrian teachings. "

The book The nomadic people of Iran by Richard Tapper, Professor of Sociology and Anthropology at the University of London, and Jon Thompson draws heavily on the work of Nasrollah Kasraian.

Nasrollah Kasraian has received several national and international awards.

His pictures have been exhibited individually and in group exhibitions in Iran, Japan, England, France, Austria, Switzerland, Sweden, the USA, Canada, Italy, Holland, Belgium and Singapore.
