Nassauer Monument
The Nassau monument in Günzburg , a town in the Swabian district of Günzburg , was erected in 1867. The monument on Weißenhorner Strasse is on the Günzburg monument list .
history
The monument stands on a hill on the road to Bubesheim . Here adopted Adolph of Nassau (1817-1905), who later became Grand Duke Adolf I of Luxembourg, after the lost war in 1866 against Prussia of his army . He released his officers and officials from their oath .
description
On a square, twice stepped base, a rising obelisk made of sandstone . The total height of the monument is 3.44 meters. The bronze coat of arms of the Duchy of Nassau is attached to the eastern side . Underneath is the chiseled inscription: "Here Duke Adolf von Nassau said his last farewell to his brave army." Below is: "Renewed by former Nassau officers". On the north side it is noted: “In memory of the loyal Nassau army from their friends in Günzburg”. On the narrow side it says: "On September 8th, 1866".
