The Arab Democratic Nasserist Party ( Arabic الحزب العربي الديمقراطي الناصري, DMG al-Ḥizb al-ʿArabī ad-Dīmuqrāṭī an-Nāṣirī , short name Nasserists ) was a Nasserist political party in Egypt , which regarded itself as the ideological successor to the Arab Socialist Union of the former President of Egypt, Gamal Abdel Nasser .

history

The economic liberalization and the change in foreign policy by the successor of Nasser, President Anwar El Sadat , startled many conservative Nasserist off in the late 1970s and early 1980s. An illegal group, the Thawrat Misri or "Egyptian Revolution", was formed in 1980. After it was crushed by the government of Hosni Mubarak , it became clear that several relatives of Gamal Abdel Nasser were involved.

Ideological Nasserists were attracted to either the Socialist Labor Party or the National Progressive Unionist Party (NPUF) for the rest of the decade . In 1984 the former left-wing Nasserist ASU Central Committee member Farid Abdel-Karim founded the Arab Democratic Nasserist Party . The Nasserists were finally allowed to have an open legal political party in 1992, the Nasserist Arab Democratic Party, which was led by Diya Eldin Dawud until 2010 .

In the parliamentary elections in 2000 , the Arab Democratic Nasserist Party won three of the 454 seats in the popular assembly . However, in the general election of 2005 in November and December, she received no more seats in parliament. It united on September 28, 2012 with the Nasserist Party of Dignity and the National Reconciliation Party to form the United Nasserist Party .
