Natalia Strelchenko

Natalia Strelchenko ( Russian: Наталья Стрельченко Natalja Streltschenko , also called Natalia Strelle ; born December 23, 1976 in the Soviet Union ; † August 30, 2015 in Manchester ) was a Russian-Norwegian pianist .

Life

Strelchenko trained at the Leningrad / Saint Petersburg Conservatory and at the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo . The music college also awarded her a doctorate in art research. She made her first appearance at the age of twelve with the Leningrad State Academic Symphony Orchestra . From 1995 to 2000 she worked as an accompanist and teacher at the Saint Petersburg Conservatory. Streltschenko lived in Norway for almost 15 years and moved to Manchester in 2013. There she was Artistic Director of the International Chamber Music Academy Menestrelles . She was also a teacher at the Belfort Conservatory .

Strelchenko played in major concert halls such as Carnegie Hall in New York City and Wigmore Hall in London as well as the French Cathedral in Berlin .

She was found dead in her Manchester home on August 30, 2015. Her 48-year-old husband, a double bass player , was issued an arrest warrant on September 1 for suspected murder of her and for attempted murder of a youth under 17. Strelchenko and her husband have a son, 14-year-old Leo, who is a talented violinist. In 2009, at the age of 8, he received a scholarship to the Chetham School of Music in Manchester. On March 18, 2016, her husband was found guilty of murdering her in a Manchester court, but he was acquitted of the charges of murder of a teenager.
