Natashquan is a city in the province of Quebec in Canada . It is located on the northwest bank of the Saint Lawrence River , about 980 km from the city of Québec . The ferry crossing across the Bay of the St. Lawrence River takes about two hours. The capital of the administrative region Côte-Nord has about 264 inhabitants (as of 2006) in two districts.

The area around Natashquan was discovered by the French navigator Jacques Cartier in the mid-16th century . The city itself was founded in 1855 by the then owner of the Magdalene Islands .
