Nathalie Arthaud (born February 23, 1970 in Peyrins , Drôme ) has been the spokeswoman for the Trotskyist French left-wing party Lutte Ouvrière "Struggle of the Workers" since December 9, 2008 .
Nathalie Arthaud was her party's candidate for the 2012 presidential election in France and the 2017 presidential election in France .
Life
Since the Agrégation for Economics and Management she has been working as a teacher at the Lycée “Le Corbusier” in Aubervilliers .
politics
Nathalie Arthaud took over the post of Lutte Ouvrière spokeswoman after the 2007 French presidential election after leading the presidential campaign of her predecessor Arlette Laguiller .
In the 2009 European elections in France , she topped the list in the French south-east constituency, where she received 24,727 votes, or 0.84% of the vote. In the regional elections in the Rhône-Alpes region in 2010, she topped the list and received 1.42% of the votes.
Arthaud was her party's presidential candidate for the 2012 and 2017 elections .
She is also city councilor for youth issues in Vaulx-en-Velin , where she stood and was elected on a list under the leadership of the Parti communiste français (PCF, German Communist Party of France ) for a citizens' initiative and the alternative list.
After 2017
Nathalie Arthaud took part in the anti-Macron demonstration "marée populaire" ("Flood of the People") in May 2017. The following year she said she was "in solidarity with the demands of the workers" of the yellow vests movement . However, it specifies that there must be demands that are less “vague” than “low taxes” and that only the “struggle against the bourgeoisie who fights against all powers” will enable us to get out of this political crisis, and not the return to the polls. She took part in the teachers' strike that was taking place at the same time.
After the failure of the negotiations with the Nouveau Parti anticapitaliste , she was appointed chairman of the “Lutte Ouvrière” for the 2019 European elections . Thereupon she received the support of the NPA, which was unable to submit its own list due to lack of financial resources. Their list received 0.78% of the votes cast.
