Nathalie Kovanko

Nathalie Kovanko ( Russian Наталья Ивановна Кованько Natalja Iwanowna Kowanko ; born September 13, 1899 in Yalta , Russian Empire , † May 23, 1967 in Kiev , Soviet Union ) was a silent film actress of Russian origin .

Life

Natalja Kowanko, originally from Crimea , belonged to a family of actors. Immediately before the October Revolution , she began filming at the age of 17 and throughout her short career almost exclusively received roles in productions by her future husband Viktor Tourjansky . Around 1919/20 the couple fled to Western Europe, settled in France and continued filming there.

A little later, Kovanko's brother Boris de Fast also reached the French capital and was given film roles and other tasks by Tourjansky. Nathalie Kovanko retired from the film business after a film adaptation of the popular adventure material “ The Czar's Courier ”, in which she was given the lead female role as Nadia Fedor. After her divorce from Tourjansky, Kovanko went back to the Soviet Union and settled in the Ukrainian capital Kiev.
