The National Bank of Tuvalu ( English National Bank of Tuvalu , NBT) is the central bank of the Pacific island nation of Tuvalu . The bank is headquartered in Vaiaku village on Fongafale Island in Funafuti Atoll .

The bank was established on the basis of the National Bank of Tuvalu Act 1980. It operates - to a limited extent - the currency and monetary policy for the country, is Tuvalu's only commercial bank and publisher of the Tuvalu dollar . The issue of its own currency was stopped in 1994.

The NBT is part of the Tuvalus Ministry of Finance and Economic Development .
