The 2009/10 season is the 61st regular time of the Swiss National League B in handball .

In the second division, the National League B , twelve teams are represented. Out of competition, the Swiss U21 national team plays one game against each team, whereby the points from these games are fully counted.

The championship is divided into two phases, in the main round all teams play a simple round-trip against each opponent (22 + 1 rounds), the first four teams then play a simple round-trip (6 rounds) again in the promotion round .

The first two clubs in the promotion round will play in the NLA next season, the last two teams in the main round will be relegated to the first division, the third tier.
