The Aguaragüe National Park ( Parque Nacional y Área Natural de Manejo Integrado Serranía del Aguaragüe ) is a nature reserve in the Tarija Department in Bolivia . The national park is located in the southeast of the country in the Gran Chaco province and was founded on April 20, 2000.

The Aguaragüe National Park (spoken: a-gua-ra-gu-e ) covers the southern part of the Voranden chain of the Serranía Aguaragüe , which lies between the Cordillera Oriental in the west and the vast plains of the Gran Chaco in the east and from the Argentine border from running in a northerly direction. The park covers a total area of 1083.07 square kilometers , of which 45,822 hectares form the actual national park and a further 62,485 hectares are designated as a protected area (Área Natural de Manejo Integrado).

The Aguaragüe National Park comprises two ecosystems, the Tucumano and Chaqueño mountain forests. The flora of the tucumano-Berg forest is mainly characterized by parlatorei Podocarpus , Blepharocalyx salicifolius , Myrcianthes pseudo-Mato , cedrela lilloi , Juglans australis , Zanthoxylum coco , Phoebe porphyria , Ocotea ouberula , Nectanra sp., Viburnum seemannii and Chusquea lorentziana . In the Chaqueño mountain forest, however, Schinopsis haenkeana , Schinopsis quebracho-colorado , Aspidosperma quebracho-blanco , Astronium urundeuva , Amburana cearensis , Anadenanthera colubrina , Chorisia insignis , Prosopis sp. and various types of cacti, including from the genera Opuntia , Cereus and Pereskia .
fauna
The local fauna in the Tucumano Mountain Forest includes the giant anteater , southern tamandua , South American coati , two species of pintail deer ( great mazama and gray azama ), maikong , small spotted cat , ocelot , jaguar , ortalis canicollis , various species of Penelope and black-footed seriema . Southern spherical armadillo , six-banded armadillo , collar peccary , whitebeard peccary , southern tamandua and giant anteater are found in the Chaqueño Mountain Forest .
