description
Bohemian Switzerland has been under landscape protection as ChKO Labské Pískovce since 1972 . After Saxon Switzerland was elevated to a national park in 1990 , efforts increased to protect the Bohemian part of the Elbe Sandstone Mountains as a national park .
A plan presented in 1991 also provided for the inclusion of the Rosenberg ( Růžovský vrch ) from the outset . However , this plan was fought heavily over the years by various groups such as hunting tenants and forestry . A small solution that was presented in the meantime was ultimately not implemented. In 1999, the Czech government finally decided to create the Bohemian Switzerland National Park (Národní park České Švýcarsko) in the originally planned size.
As of January 1, 2000, the valuable rocky forest landscape, the Kamnitz gorges and the area around the Rosenberg ( Růžovský vrch ) were placed under protection as a national park. The seat of the national park administration is in Krásná Lípa ( Schönlinde ), information points are in Hřensko ( Herrnskretschen ) and Jetřichovice ( Dittersbach ).
