The National Highway 7 (NH 7) is one of eight national highways in Cambodia and part of the Asian Highway 11 (AH 11) , which runs in the east and north of the country. The course of the road leads from National Road 6 in Skun via Kampong Cham and Stung Treng to the Laos border . It is the only road link between the two countries and with a length of 447 kilometers it is the second longest trunk road in Cambodia.

Street description

The road begins in the village of Skun and heads east. The main town on the route is Kampong Cham, where the Kizuna Bridge crosses the Mekong . The NH 7 continues east towards Vietnam . Some smaller roads cross the border with the Vietnamese road network. The NH 7 then turns north and comes through a sparsely populated area characterized by forest. The road then runs parallel to the Mekong. The main town in this area is Stung Treng . Over a length of 40 kilometers, it follows the Laos border, where the road continues as route 13 to Pakse .

history

National road 7 only went as far as Kampong Cham until the bridge over the Mekong was built, thus cutting off eastern Cambodia. The road was paved between 2004 and 2008 and a new border crossing with Laos was built, the only one between the two countries.
