Sodium tellurate is an inorganic chemical compound of sodium from the group of tellurates .
Extraction and presentation
Sodium tellurate can be obtained by dehydration of disodium tetrahydrogen orthotellurate Na 2 H 4 TeO 6 and subsequent reaction with sodium nitrate .
It is also possible to display it by heating sodium tellurite in air.
properties
Sodium tellurate is a colorless solid that is soluble in water. It has an orthorhombic crystal structure with the space group Pbcn (space group no. 60) , which changes to a monoclinic crystal structure at 420 ° C.
use
Sodium tellurate is used as an intermediate in the extraction of tellurium. Sodium tellurate solutions are used for black or blue-black coatings on iron, steel, aluminum and copper.
