Natural monument Egelpfuhle am Stier
The natural monument Egelpfuhle am Stier is the largest natural monument in Schöneiche near Berlin with 2 hectares of designation area .
The natural monument Egelpfuhle am Stier consists of the two Egelpfuhlen, a meadow and a forest surrounding it. The entire ensemble is located in the Schönebecker Heide on the eastern edge of the village, between the Schöneiches settlement area and the Grünelinde von Rüdersdorf residential area . In the entire natural monument, more than 200 flowering plants, including more than 50 medicinal plants , and 21 woody species were counted. The meadow in the east is largely surrounded by birch trees, one side open to the heather is protected by a benjes hedge . A large number of wild herbs and wild flowers grow on the meadow, including protected rare orchid species such as the broad-leaved orchid (60 specimens in 2013), the large two-leaf (8 perennials) and the broad-leaved sitter (70 specimens). The problem is the goldenrod , which spreads at the expense of other plants and has to be pushed back by human hands.
The two leech ponds are flat pools . They are breeding grounds for various bird species. Moreover, they are spawning area for the common toad , pond and frog and comb and newts . Grass snakes also live here.
The area takes its name from an inn called Stier von Uri that used to exist in the vicinity , of which no remains can be found on the surface today.
