Area description

The NSG is a near-natural, extensive, heavily branched stream system of the Romecke and its tributaries with floodplain areas, as well as a broken forest complex. The NSG has sources in birch bog forest and swamp forests. There are creek-accompanying alder-quarry forests and alder-ash forests. In the floodplains there are also fallow land, reed beds, wetland and poor grassland.
