The nature reserve Talsystem der Pöppelsche with Hoinkhauser Bach is a 474  hectare nature reserve (NSG) in the area of Anröchte , Erwitte and Rüthen in the district of Soest in North Rhine-Westphalia . In 1978 and 1985, the Arnsberg district government designated the area as a NSG by ordinance. The NSG was designated again in 1994 and 1997 by the district council of the Soest district with the Erwitte-Anröchte landscape plan. The NSG has been part of the FFH area Pöppelsche (No. DE-4416-301) and also as part of the European bird sanctuary Hellwegbörde (No. DE-4416-401) since 2004 . The areas directly adjacent to the NSG are in the landscape protection area for agricultural and forest areas along the Pöppelsche north of the BAB 44 , in the landscape protection area for agricultural areas in the Pöppelsche area (Hoinkhauser Bach) south of the A 44 and in the landscape protection area for agricultural areas along the Hoinkhauser Bachtal .

Area description

The NSG is the structurally rich valley system of the Pöppelsche and the Hoinkhauser Bach . In the valley area there are limestone grasslands , stone rubble ruderal fields, species-rich fallow land, heat-loving fringes and bushes as well as the near-natural stream sections. At the edges of the valley there are stripes of deciduous forest and woody trees framing a backdrop. The brooks of the dry valley in the semi-karst are only periodically water-bearing.

The crested newt was detected in the NSG . From Annex II of the Habitats Directive was u. a. the following species of birds found: Kingfisher , Red-backed Shrike and Red Kite .

Reasons for deportation

The designation of the NSG took place according to ordinance u. a .: "To preserve and promote the communities of the structurally rich valley areas, in particular the characteristic and endangered species of semi-dry limestone lawns and grasslands, rock rubble ruderal meadows and fallow land with many species, warmth-loving fringes and bushes as well as near-natural stream sections. Because of the occurrence of numerous rare and endangered animal species and plant species. Because of the peculiarity of this periodically water-bearing dry valley in the semi-karst and the outstanding beauty of the area with grazing as a relic of old cultural farming systems. "
