The Gieseler nature reserve is located in the area of ​​the city of Erwitte and the district town of Soest in the district of Soest in North Rhine-Westphalia .

The area extends southwest of the core town of Lippstadt in a narrow band along the Gieseler , a left tributary of the Lippe , between Overhagen in the northwest and Bad Westernkotten in the southeast. The state roads L 636 and L 748 cross the area and the B 55 runs along the south-eastern edge .
