The Brockbusch is a 45  hectare nature reserve (NSG) in the district of Stirpe in the municipality of Erwitte in the Soest district in North Rhine-Westphalia . The NSG was designated in 1990 (current regulation terminates until 2031).

Area description

The NSG with the identifier SO-026 is a field grass-beech forest and oak-hornbeam forest known as Brockbusch in the northern area of ​​the district of Stirpe, in the midst of agricultural areas. In the north-western area of ​​the NSG there is a moat of a former castle with the wetland of the Steinbecke (= Steinbach).

Protection purpose

In addition to the preservation of a natural area in the middle of the intensely used Hellwegbörde , the NSG serves in particular to protect red kites , crested newts and various species of bats.
