The Hengelsbach nature reserve is a 2.12 hectare nature reserve (NSG) southeast of Rüthen in the Soest district in North Rhine-Westphalia . In 1942, 1957 and 1966 the Arnsberg district government designated the area as an NSG by ordinance. In the east, the NSG borders directly on the district boundary. In the area of ​​the city of Brilon in the Hochsauerlandkreis , the Eselsbruch / Harlebachsystem nature reserve is directly connected .

Area description

The NSG is the upper stream of the Hengelsbach . The creek is located in a moderately steep Kerbtal which extends from west to east. There is a rest of alluvial forest by the stream. At the southern edge there is a narrow, low-growing reed stand on a swelling subsoil.
