Yannick Maden (born October 28, 1989 in Stuttgart ) is a German tennis player .

Personal

Yannick Maden hardly played any tournaments on the junior tour. From 2009 to 2013 he studied, just like his brother Dominique, who is also pursuing a career as a professional tennis player, at Clemson University in the state of South Carolina . There he played for the college tennis team of the Tigers in the Atlantic Coast Conference . He completed his studies in financial management in 2013 with a bachelor's degree . In 2014 he also decided to concentrate on his tennis career from now on.

Career

As early as 2007, Maden succeeded in placing in the tennis world rankings for the first time. However, it wasn't until 2013 that he reached a final in a Future tournament. Until the beginning of 2016 he won two titles in singles and three titles in doubles on the Future Tour. In addition, he reached three individual finals.

2016 is his most successful year to date. In addition to four future titles, he reached five finals, which allowed him to increasingly participate in tournaments on the ATP Challenger Tour . There he seldom got past the first round. He played his first match on the ATP World Tour in Antwerp at the European Open against Gilles Simon , to whom he lost 3: 6, 2: 6. He fought his way through the qualification, where he was able to defeat top 200 players for the first time with Vincent Millot and Kimmer Coppejans . In November of the same year, he achieved his best position to date with rank 266.

In 2019, Maden initially failed in the first qualifying round for the Australian Open . In the following months he performed primarily on the Challenger Tour and reached two finals in March, but he lost both. While he had to admit defeat in Drummondville Ričardas Berankis , he lost to Grégoire Barrère in Lille , so that after a total of six finals so far he can not show a victory at this level. On June 10, 2019, Maden was listed in the top 100 of the world rankings for the first time.

In the Bundesliga, Maden also plays for TEC Waldau Stuttgart , with whom he was promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga in 2014 , but was relegated again the following year.
