Mats Moraing (born June 20, 1992 in Mülheim an der Ruhr ) is a German tennis player .
Career
Mats Moraing was able to celebrate his first local national successes as a youngster, including becoming association champions twice. At the age of 16, the 1.98 m tall Moraing had to take a full year off tennis due to growth joints in his knee.
Moraing mainly plays tournaments on the third-class ITF Future Tour and the second-class ATP Challenger Tour on the professional tour . Although he made his first appearance on the Future Tour in 2009, he made his first final entry in 2014. In the same year he was finally able to celebrate his first success and by January 2018 had won a total of ten singles and two doubles. On the Challenger Tour in 2015 in Heilbronn he made the leap into the individual main field for the first time. However, he could not celebrate his first win until 2017, when he beat Andrés Molteni in Canberra . The year 2018 started extremely successfully for Moraing. For the first time he made the jump to a Challenger final in Bangkok , but had to admit defeat to Marcel Granollers in three sets. At the second tournament in Bangkok a week later, he was again in the semi-finals. Another week later at the Challenger in Koblenz he was able to improve again. After the successes of the previous week, he received a wildcard for the main field and played his way to the final with only one set loss. There he gave the seeded French Kenny de Schepper no chance and clearly won 6: 2, 6: 1.
In the Bundesliga , Moraing played for the Rochusclub in Düsseldorf until 2018 . Since the 2019 season he has been playing for the TC Bredeney Essen in the 2nd tennis Bundesliga .
At the Noventi Open 2019 in Halle , Moraing made his debut on the ATP Tour as a qualifier. He was defeated by the Italian Andreas Seppi in two sentences.
Moraing trains at the Tennis Center Moraing , which is run by his father Heiner Moraing and his uncle Peter Moraing , who are both former professional players and played at Wimbledon and the Australian Open , among others .
