The 6.18 hectare large nature reserve Finkenstein is located north of Neuburg an der Donau , in the area of the district Bittenbrunn .
On the bright Jura promontory on the north bank of the Danube you will find a multi-layered flora and fauna , especially many Mediterranean species. It is the only location in the world for Bavarian feather grass ( Stipa bavarica ). There are also Turkish leagues ( Lilium martagon ), lady's slipper ( Cypripedium calceolus ), pasque flower ( Pulsatilla vulgaris ) and diptam ( Dictamnus albus ).
At numerous places in the nature reserve you have a good view of the Danube valley.
