The Pragpaul nature reserve is a 70 hectare nature reserve north of Altena in the Märkisches Kreis in North Rhine-Westphalia . It is also partly in the municipality of Nachrodt-Wiblingwerde . The NSG was designated as a NSG by ordinance in 1999 and 2004 by the Arnsberg district government . The NSG has been part of the FFH area Schluchtwälder in the Lennetal (No. DE-4712-301), which is designated with a total of 202 hectares , since 2004 . The eponymous Altena district of Pragpaul is surrounded by the NSG.
Area description
The NSG is a species-rich hillside mixed forest on the rocky steep slopes exposed towards the Lenne . The forest is beech forest , canyon forest , coppice and mixed forests hillside. In the NSG rocks and cliffs emerge in various places. A near-natural river section with underwater vegetation and wood on the banks as well as the Lenneinsel Werth with its near-natural alluvial forest belong to the NSG.
