The radio navigation service via satellites ( English radionavigation-satellite service ) is, according to the definition of the International Telecommunication Union, a radio positioning service via satellite for radio navigation purposes .

This radio service is a safety-relevant or safety-of-life service , must be protected from interference and is an important part of navigation .
