Nazaire De Wolf

Nazaire De Wolf (born September 2, 1917 in Wilrijk ( Antwerp ), † June 22, 1983 ) was a Belgian band leader and composer under the pseudonym Pol Stone .

Nazaire De Wolf received his musical training at the music academies in Berchem and Antwerp . He also graduated from the latter academy. As an alto saxophone soloist, he won several international competitions (including in Lier and Brussels ). In 1935 he founded a combo that performed in the casinos in the coastal towns of Blankenberge , Ostend and Knokke until 1947 after the Second World War . After regular appearances in the Mac cabaret in Ghent , he founded a big band in 1950 , which until 1980 performed at big balls all over Belgium and the Netherlands.

In such a role it was imperative to write arrangements. The step from arrangement to composition was then not far. His around 255 big band compositions were sold worldwide, even in what was then the Soviet Union .

His publisher, "Editions Nazaire DE WOLF" published his own and arranged works. Some of his works or arrangements are mentioned in the "Muziekbibliotheek van de Omroep".
