Nebojša Čović ( Serbian - Cyrillic Небојша Човић ; born July 2, 1958 in Belgrade , Serbia , Yugoslavia ) is a Serbian politician .

From 1994 to 1997 he was mayor of Belgrade. He belonged to the Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS) until 1997 , when he moved to the camp of the opposition at the time, where he founded the Demokratska Alternativa with several other politicians who had left the SPS and became its chairman. From 2000 to 2001 he was one of the three deputy prime ministers of the interim government that had overthrown Slobodan Milošević and eventually brought Zoran Đinđić to power. After Đinđić's murder, Čović was together with Dušan Mihajlović for a few days in 2003 .

Covic is also one of the former head of the Kosovo Coordination Center and was chairman of the Coordination Center for Southern Serbia during the Kosovo Liberation Army -Einfalls in the Preševo -Tal.

Čović is the owner of the basketball club FMP Železnik Belgrade .
