Nebojša Jovan Živković (born July 5, 1962 in Sremska Mitrovica , Yugoslavia ) is a German-Serbian percussionist and composer . He has lived in Germany since 1980. In addition to his composition and concert activities, he has held two professorships, since 2010 at the University of Novi Sad (Serbia) and since 2012 at the Music and Art University of the City of Vienna (Austria).

Zivković completed his studies in composition, music theory and drums in Germany at the University of Music and Performing Arts Mannheim and the University of Music and Performing Arts Stuttgart . Concert engagements have taken him to most of Europe, the USA and Japan, Taiwan, Russia, Korea and Mexico.

As a soloist, Živković has played with various orchestras worldwide, including the Stuttgart Philharmonic , the Munich Symphony , the Hanover Radio Philharmonic , the Bochum Symphony , the Minnesota Orchestra, the Budapest Philharmonic, the Saint Petersburg Philharmonic, the Moscow Philharmonic and the Costa Rica National Symphony and many others. Many of his more than forty published compositions for marimba and percussion are now considered the standard repertoire of percussionists worldwide. So z. B. Ilijaš or Ultimatum 1 for marimba solo, or “Trio per Uno” for percussion trio, which is certainly one of the most played percussion trios worldwide.

In addition to composing and performing at concerts, Živković regularly gives guest lectures and seminars at music colleges, universities and at percussion festivals. In 1996 he was visiting professor of marimba, percussion and composition at the University of Hartford and in 1997 at the University of Minnesota .

Since 2005 Živković has been professor of percussion at the University of Novi Sad (Serbia) and since 2012 he has also been a full professor for percussion at the Music and Art University of the City of Vienna. Živković made many productions for TV and radio, at home and abroad, recorded solo CDs with marimba and percussion music as well as a CD with Darius Milhaud's concerto for marimba with the Austrian Chamber Symphony Orchestra .

Nebojša Živković plays on a marimba (Yamaha-6000NJZ) specially made in Japan according to his wishes.
