The Neckar Bridge Wendlingen is a railway bridge under construction on the new Wendlingen – Ulm line .

The 135.5 m long, three-span structure (spans of 41.5, 50.0 and 44.0 meters) has a box girder as a superstructure. As a result of nature conservation restrictions and the associated limited access options, the building should be constructed using the incremental launching method . In contrast to this, the execution was carried out with a shoring. The bridge is part of the planning approval section 2.1 from the new line.

The western abutment of the bridge marks the beginning of the new line and is already part of the new line. The tracks planned to the west of the bridge, on the other hand, belong to the new Stuttgart – Wendlingen line , which is being built as part of Stuttgart 21 .

To the east of the bridge, another three-span and 58.55 meter long bridge is being built over the Neckar Valley Railway , Landesstraße 1250 and a farm road.

The bridge should be completed by the end of 2018.

history

planning

In the course of weighing up the variants of the new line, a tunnel solution was also examined as one of four variants in the Wendlingen area. Including the adjoining Albvorland tunnel, this would have resulted in a total of at least 8.1 km long tunnel, with additional costs of around 133 million euros, according to the railway.

Project critics complain that beavers discovered in a nearby lake were not sufficiently taken into account in the planning.

In the form of an addendum announced in August 2017, the risk of resonance for the ICE 4 is to be assessed separately.

Tendering and awarding

The bridge is part of the 1.1 km long lot 1 of the planning approval section 2.1ab, the construction of which was put out to tender across Europe in February 2015. The construction work should start around the turn of the year 2015/2016.

Shortly before Christmas 2015, the work was awarded to a bidding consortium of Max Bögl and Leonhard Weiss for around 24 million euros .

construction

The second abutment was under construction in mid-2018. The bridge should be completed by the end of 2018.
