Nedim Kaleci , or according to some sources also Nedim Kaleçi , (born January 1, 1900 in Istanbul , Ottoman Empire , † July 22, 1981 ) was a Turkish football goalkeeper and coach . He was in the starting line-up for the Turkish national team's first international match and took part in the 1924 Summer Olympics.

Player career

Kaleçi began his club career with the Istanbul club Altınordu İdman Yurdu . In 1926 he moved to Fenerbahçe Istanbul and played here until 1931.

National team

Kaleci made his first international appearance in the first game of the Turkish national team . In the game against the Romanian national team he was in the starting line-up and played for the full season.

With the Turkish selection, Kaleci took part in the 1924 Summer Olympics. He made a total of five international matches.

Trivia

  • His family name "Kaleci" is the Turkish word for his position as a goalkeeper and was given to him by Mustafa Kemal Ataturk .
