Neil Martin

Neil Martin (born September 3, 1972 ) is a British mathematician and the current head of Operations Research at Scuderia Ferrari .

Career

After studying mathematics and information science at the University of Southampton , Martin's first career in Formula 1 was the racing strategy department at McLaren Racing . He became famous in 2005 when his intervention in the team's strategy brought McLaren victory at the Monaco Grand Prix . Martin was staying at the company's headquarters in Woking at the time ; During a safety car phase, he sent an email to the McLaren box that consisted of just two words: Stay Out . Kimi Raikkonen did without a pit stop and won the race.
