Culture
"Las Bolas de Fuego" ("The Fireballs") are celebrated every year on August 31st. There are two explanations for this tradition: The El Playon volcano , part of the Volcán de San Salvador , erupted in November 1658 and caused people to flee to the area of what was then Nexapa . The religious version says that San Jeronimo , the city's patron saint, fought the devil with fireballs.
