Genna Salixi

The necropolis of Genna Salixi is on the border of Marmilla and Sarcidano , about one kilometer south of Villa Sant'Antonio , below the road SP37 to Senis in the province of Oristano in Sardinia . The necropolis dates from the late Neolithic ( Ozieri culture , 3200–2800 BC) and was reused during the Copper Age ( Monte Claro culture , 2700–2200 BC) .

The 12 Domus de Janas of the necropolis , which are in a row and the two remote ones, impress with their monumental architecture, especially in the access area, with high dromoi carved into the slope . Interesting details can be found in the rock graves , such as bench altars carved into the rock and square wall niches. In one of the graves, an abandoned column supports the ceiling. The basic plan of the majority of the graves consists of an anteroom and a main room, while some have no antechamber, but several secondary chambers.
