The Domus de Janas of the Lotzorai necropolis (also called Tracucu or Fund'e Monti) consist of 13 preserved tombs and are located on the side of the Tracucu hill, which is part of the Bruncu Crabiola mountain complex. Lotzorai is located on the Tyrrhenian Sea in the province of Nuoro in Sardinia .

description

The rock tombs, which were mostly laid out longitudinally and rarely had multiple chambers, were intended for several dead. The partially damaged chambers can be reached via a dromos up to five meters long . Some systems have an anteroom. In many cases the entrances have carved decorative frames. In one case, the frame is encircled by an oval engraving, while the threshold has a hole in the middle that was believed to have been used to drain liquids through an engraved groove that was shed during the ceremonies.

Time position

The Domus de Janas come from the Neolithic Ozieri culture (3300-2700 BC), whose shattered pottery was found. The discovery of three intact vases from the Bonnanaro culture (1800–1500 BC) in one of the graves shows that they were subsequently used at the beginning of the Bronze Age .

On the hill of Tracucu there is a nuraghe dominating the area .
