Nelson Boyd
Nelson Boyd (born February 6, 1928 in Camden , New Jersey , † October 1985 ) is an American bebop jazz bassist .
Neson Boyd played in local orchestras in Philadelphia around 1945 , came to New York in 1947 and played with Coleman Hawkins , Tadd Dameron and Dexter Gordon , then with Sarah Vaughan , Dizzy Gillespie , Charlie Barnet in 1948. From 1949 Boyd took a back seat but in 1956 with Dizzy Gillespie on his tour in the Middle East. He also made records with Fats Navarro and Charlie Parker in 1947, with Miles Davis and Jay Jay Johnson in 1949.
